The ArborHive Innovation Board is made up of dedicated physicians who believe that opportunity, experience and connection drive the biotechnology commercialization process. Each member brings his/her own unique background to the table to continually drive the network forward.

Niki Kennedy


Dr. Kennedy founded ArborHive in 2019 after completing her MBA at the University of Michigan. She has extensive coaching experience through a variety of biotech accelerator groups as well as through independent entities. She also holds Masters degrees in both Electrical and Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Kennedy maintains her busy clinical practice in vascular surgery while working to expand the ArborHive network. She also is the creator of The Lonely Surgeon, a blog that examines the business of medicine, as well as the ArborHive Innovation Project podcast.

Santosh Mudiraj


Dr. Mudiraj holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree as well as his degree in Masters in Public Health.

Dr. Mudiraj has 15 years of healthcare experience in improving patient safety and quality of care. His professional work has been published in the journal of Surgery, Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice, and American Thoracic Society among others.

Cynthia Leaphart


Dr. Leaphart is a board certified General Surgeon with a special interest in outcomes and quality improvement.  She was mentored in Human Factors and Patient Safety by the internationally renowned Robert L Wears, MD, MS, PhD.  Her skill sets are used to drive systems-based improvement in organizations that use informatics and innovation as catalysts to propel innovation forward.
